Vins d’Alsace
Vins d’Alsace worked with ecoSIP to bring six incredible wines to a large group of informed wine lovers, with an interactive online tasting experience on YouTube.
Six wineries from Alsace each sent us 12 sample bottles, which we fractionalised into ecoSIP containers. Vins d’Alsace sent through some video and presentation content for us to use. We produced a letterbox-friendly tasting pack, weighing under 750 grams despite containing six glasses of wine (100ml), with a brochure explaining Alsace wines and a QR code to a live / on-demand YouTube tasting link.
The tasting was led by Jamie Smith, a WSET-certified wine educator, certified Sommelier and the International Emerging Talent in Wine for 2021.
This was offered at a discounted rate to the members of our regular wine tasting club, and we were joined by nearly 200 people to taste and discuss the wines of Alsace. We shared photographs from our visits to the region, pictures from the wineries and of the winemakers, and slides from the presentations supplied by Vins d’Alsace.
As the customers tasted the wines, they were able to submit, using our mobile app and website, their tasting notes, which formed a word cloud for each wine, showing the dominant flavours and aromas that the tasters were seeing. The YouTube comments were also flying in! We finished with a quiz testing the viewers’ knowledge of Alsace and its wines, to see how much they had learned, and the wine of the night was – appropriately – a Gewürztraminer!
